What you need to know:

  • Tickets are R150 presale or at the gate. It’s up a few bucks from last year, but within reason.
  • Only 2000 tickets are available, and Matthew Mole is playing so there’ll be people for days. Buy in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • R15 entrance into the Voortrekker Monument grounds per vehicle.
  • No under 18’s will be allowed (“except for small children accompanied by their parents”. Also free entry for kids under the age of 6.)
  • The Cabin Fever dance floor is now only running every second month, starting in Feb.1
  • BYOB, but this time it’s a glass-free event.

We ask that you rather bring cans of beers & ciders and decant your wine or spirits in plastic bottles. We’ve added 2 recycling points in the festival area and we’ll also be handing out refuse bags as you enter, please keep your picnic spot tidy & recycle your garbage.

I’d recommend buying tickets online before the event, as such a stellar lineup is likely to sell out.

PS. Whether you miss this event or not, you might also want to check out Josh Kempen’s next show at Trio in Greenside: The Courtyard Sessions!

Jack Parow vertel: ‘n Q&A oor Die Ou Met Die Snor By Die Bar

“Ek dink ek is die complete opposite van die gemiddelde rapper.”

Dis nog vroeg op ‘n Woensdagaand aan die noordelike randjie van Melville. Net agter daai ouderwetse “Welcome to Melville” bord is Love Books – ‘n knus, dog ruim boekwinkel. En ons is hier om te hoor hoe Jack Parow gesels met die joernalis Angola Badprop (oftewel Jaco Nel), oor sy nuwe boek – Die Ou Met Die Snor By Die Bar.

Back to the Future day

It’s finally here – the day on which Marty McFly arrives in the future in 1989’s Back to the Future – Part II. After being the subject of numerous internet hoaxes, the true “Back to the Future day” is being used to celebrate the franchise’s 30 year anniversary. Also being released today is the Back to the Future blu-ray and DVD “30th anniversary edition” re-release.

Don’t miss Tallard and the ladderbird this weekend

Tallard and the Ladderbird is an original musical puppet theatre production which opens at the iMPAC Film Festival (Pretoria, South Africa) in September 2015. This production tells the tale of Tallard, an ungainly and uncomfortably tall girl who struggles to find her place in the world. When she one day coughs up an egg that is believed to bring peace once hatched, she sets off on a mission to do so. Along the way, she meets Longdawg, a lengthy and loving dog who becomes a welcome companion on her dangerous journey.

When Marty McFly arrives: Back to the Future 2 at The Bioscope

What’s that? Oh, only the sequel to one of the BEST MOVIES EVER [Surprisingly, part II is a pretty good movie itself]. Being shown in a cinema. Where you can experience it with an audience.

ON THE EXACT DATE THAT MARTY MCFLY ARRIVES IN 2015 IN THE FILM.

Can you tell that I’m excited?
