“Die liefde is soos ‘n ryp komkommer – vergeet hom in die sakkie dan verlep hy sommer.”
– Valiant Swart, Liefde by die Dam
On 16 June, JacarandaFM is bringing a full day family music experience to Johannesburg’s Emmarentia Dam. Named after Valiant Swart’s chart-topping hit of the same name, Liefde By Die Dam is a showcase for the best in local talent, and an all-ages Youth Day celebration.
Join the groundbreaking group Die Heuwels Fantasties, revered for their unique music and their energetic live performances, on Youth Day. Joining Die Heuwels on the mainstage is iconic front man of legendary South African rock bands Fokofolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel, Francois van Coke who released his #1 self-titled debut album in 2015. Whilst lazing under the leafy trees of Emmarentia, Theuns Jordaan – who is without a doubt one of the biggest voices Afrikaans with personal sales of more than 1.4 million – will serenade you. Adding to this stellar line-up is the man behind the name, Valiant Swart, taking audiences on a journey with his Blues guitar and harmonica. To round off this unbelievable day of entertainment are 7 SAMA nominee all-girl group Blackbyrd, up and coming star Brendan Peyper and Joburg favourite Majozi, who will bring you brand new songs from his newly released debut album.
For your day out at the dam there will be a delicious range of South Africa’s best artisan food traders. You can also bring your own picnic and spread your blanket out for the perfect celebration of youth and music.
