When I hear the term “electronic music duo”, the first names that come to mind are Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, and Goldfrapp. And now also Maribou State.
Maribou State is a London-based duo who gained popularity and fame after a string of EPs, and remixes for artists like Ultraista, Kelis, and Lana del Ray. They claim to be intrigued by the dynamics of electronic music for the dance floor, as much as with the richness and human quality of live instrumentation and song craft. And I’m intrigued to see them live.
Luckily, they’re coming to South Africa for a pair of DJ set shows: On 8 December at Mercury Live in Cape Town, and 9 December at The Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg. Even more lucky: We have a double ticket to give away for each show – see the entry form at the bottom of this page.
Another great part of these shows are the stellar lineup of local support acts. Both shows have Felix Laband, Christian Tiger School, PHFat, Akio, DJ Lag, Kidfonque, Nonku Phiri, P-Kuttah and Julian Gomes as openers.
